A Few Things I’m Loving Right Now

Happy Tape

Happy Tape is perfectly named.  It is Japanese masking tape that brings a smile wherever it goes.  Instead of being beige, like regular masking tape, Happy Tape comes in tons of colors and prints.  It instantly makes packages look festive (even if the wrapping is kind of blah); it’s perfect for moodboards, displaying your kids’ artwork, taping little notes around for your loved ones… If you’ve got Happy Tape (you can buy it here), you’ll be looking for excuses to use it.

Pink Chicken Dresses

I’ve loved Pink Chicken‘s precious girls’ clothes since I first saw them about five years ago.  Back then, though, when I googled Pink Chicken, in search of their sweet dresses and separates, I had to search through scores of warnings about undercooking chicken.  Now, Pink Chicken (the brand) is front and center, and they now carry big girls sizes as well.

Bright Pants

The fashion set has been in New York for the past week or so viewing the designer collections for Fall/Winter 2012.  This is always a wonderful opportunity to see how fashion editors and other fashionable types are dressing.  Street style photos can be an inspiration for months and months after they’re taken (because the people being photographed are normally so far ahead of the trends).

This season, as seen on Jenna Lyons in my last post, funky pants are all the rage.  Here are some additional photos of fun pants to inspire us as we stand in our closets each day and ponder what to wear.

Here, Linda Fargo, women’s fashion director for Bergdorf Goodman takes the fun trouser trend all the way by wearing a super-sunny pair of yellow pants.  They look fabulous with her dark peacoat, studded Valentino handbag, patchwork fur stole, and is that animal print I see peeking out from her shoes?  Her bright lipstick also adds to her bright pops of color.

Here, Sarah Rutson, fashion director of Lane Crawford (one of my perennial style inspirations) takes the poppy pants trend one step further by adding print.  In addition to her bright pants (whose source I haven’t yet found; does anyone know whose they are?), Sarah accessorizes with all black (quilted top, fur coat or vest on top of that, and then another quilted coat– as in Jenna Lyons’ photo, it looks like layering coats is a new thing among the fashionable– and black lace-up booties).  Her only other nod to color is her fun neon-tinged necklace.

Finally, we have Kelly Framel, of fab blog The Glamourai, wearing bright coral pants (I believe they are Tibi, and can be purchased here) {**It’s been confirmed; the pants are Tibi.  In addition, the cape is DKNY, the shirt is Rag & Bone, the cuffs are Fleet Ilya, the purse is from Zara, the shoes are Jean-Michel Cazabat.}  Though she wears coral harness-like bracelets on each wrist, her other pieces are all white, grey, or black, which really lets her pants stand out.  She, too, has layered tops (a half-untucked shirt, which also appears to be a trend, a cozy turtleneck sweater, and a tuxedo cape-jacket.  Lovely!!
Which is your favorite look?
