When I laid eyes on this Peter Pilotto skirt, it spoke to me. I’m not sure what it said, because it was speaking on a purely visceral level. All I knew was that I wanted to hang out with it. I had some hesitation, though, because I wasn’t sure what I would wear with it. It is, after all, a serious skirt. Its mermaid shape, its futuristic, psychedelic print. It’s not a run-of-the-mill, wear me without a care kind of skirt.
And though I loved the way it was styled in its runway state, I just knew I wouldn’t feel like myself. It was simply too serious, too fashion-y, too much pour moi. As much as I love fashion, there are certain things I cannot pull off.
But the skirt kept speaking to me, begging to be brought out on the town. So I decided to bring out its playful side, by pairing it with a plain white tee, some black heels, and a lighthearted necklace.
I still felt serious; it’s a serious skirt after all. But it also felt fun and more me. And that’s what fashion is ultimately all about, isn’t it?
What do you think? How would you wear this skirt? Or would you? Com’mon, spill.
