This Isabel Marant coat called to me from the runway. The red piping was screaming my name quite loudly, in fact. But I resisted, because, well, how many coats does a gal need?
The answer, when you live in San Francisco: quite a lot. Because it almost never gets hot here, you’re chilly most of the time. It’s been described by some as one year-long season called “perpetual Fall.” This is an advantage in at least one way: coat buying. So when I realized just how much I’d wear it, I gave in to the beckoning of the fire engine red piping and lining, as well as its gold starburst buttons.
I have not regretted it. And, as the holidays approach, it’s even more fun to inject red into one’s outfits. Maybe even a little green and plaid thrown in, for good measure.
