As much as I love color, black and white will always work, no matter the time or place. If you own a fabulous black or white piece, it’s literally forever. You’ll be able to pull it out of your closet over and over. And when you think you’ve had enough of it, put it away for a while. When you pull it back out, it’ll be as good as new. . . if not better.
In particular, a black leather jacket will stay with you until . . . you’re a ninety year old lady with a leather jacket. They’re just classics and the perfect thing to ease the formality of an outfit. They make just about anything feel more casual. And warm (obviously).
My move to San Francisco has made me completely obsessed with outerwear. You just always, always need a coat here. And a leather jacket is perfect from school drop off through meetings . . . on a date . . . out for drinks . . . just about everywhere. So I may or may not be collecting them at this point. They’re not bad as collector’s items, really. This, my first serious leather jacket, has been with me for four or five years. I lusted after it for ages, saved up and finally bought it. And here, years later, it’s only gotten more comfortable and delicious.
So, there are my deep thoughts on leather jackets and the power of black and white. Humor is evading me at the moment. I guess because it’s just such a serious topic. (Wink.)
