One of my gifts, if you want to call it that (which you probably shouldn’t) is the ability to spot a cool handbag from a mile away. On my trip to New York, I saw two that I thought were particularly great. Uncharacteristic of my normally somewhat reserved nature (among strangers anyway), I marched up to both people (okay, one was already sitting next to me on a plane, and therefore, couldn’t get away from me) and asked them where they got their bags.
I am here to report back on my findings. Both bags, in addition to being cool, are at great price points. The first, a black python-embossed leather lovely fits a ton and shocked me with its $285 price. It is so roomy and looks so sleek, I was expecting to find out it was by Bottega Veneta or a similarly venerated label. Instead it’s from Gigi New York, and it’s about one tenth of what it would cost if it were from a high-end designer label. What’s not to like? You can find it here.
Next up, is a fabulous perforated cross-body bag from Coach in a delightful shade called “watermelon” with a cute white tassel. A blogger named Katie was wearing it when I was in NYC, and I ran right up to her to find out all the details. In a room of stylish people with fabulous handbags, this one really stood out. And it can be yours for $258. You can find it here. I’ve also added it to my list of Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas, which I’ve been elaborating on. Check it out for ideas for the people you love (including the man in your life).
Here’s to a great week!
