A Few Things I’m Loving Right Now

As I mentioned yesterday, black and white pattern mixing is speaking to me right now, so this gorgeous picture from Tommy Ton immediately caught my attention.  This inspired creature mixed houndstooth, stripes, and some sort of animal print together (and added purple nails for good measure).  I love it.

I am also loving this book, The Fault In Our Stars.  I’m only about one-sixth of the way through it, and I love it so much that I find myself slowing down for fear of it ending.  The story (which Time Magazine called “damn near genius”) follows Hazel and Augustus, teenagers who meet in a support group for kids with cancer.  As the main character, Hazel is so winning, so funny, and wise, that you’re instantly sucked into her world and rooting for her (and Augustus, who quickly wins her over).  As a way to learn about each other, they read each other’s favorite books, which my inner nerd adores (and wishes people did more in real life).

I won’t say more (because I can’t, having not yet read even half the book), but I can already tell it’s amazing; and I’ve been telling everyone I know to read it.

[Post Script– I’ve finished the book, after staying up super late Saturday night to read it.  After I got past page 50, I could not put it down.  It’s wonderful, thought-provoking, and seems so real I had to remind myself it’s a novel.  I really loved it.  I don’t want to give too much away, but there are some very surprising plot twists, some deep insights on life, and so much goodness.  I heartily recommend it.  (Again.)]

So, read it!!  Okay?  And let me know what you think.

Happy Weekend!!

  • The Fault in Our Stars is probably my favorite book of the last five years. I adored it. I still can’t get the narrator’s voice out of my head. Wonderful!
