The other day I was minding my own business in the makeup section of Barney’s New York, when I was stopped by a sweet gal with a spritzer of rose water. I normally try to avoid such people (I prefer to do my own thing while shopping and don’t really want to try new samples, unless it’s my own idea). But the woman got to talking about the wonders of the rose water and the line it is made by (Chantecaille), and next thing I knew, I’d had my skin cleansed, prepped, and made up, and I was surrounded by a haul of new products.
So far, I’ve been quite impressed with them, but it’s been all of two days, so I’ll reserve judgment until I have some long-term results to report. But, in the meantime, there’s something I feel like I must share: Chantecaille Brilliant Lip Gloss. I have mentioned that I’m a lip gloss. . . erm. . . how shall I say. . . lover. I feel like, when all else fails, a new lipgloss (with good coverage, easy application, glassy finish, and not-too-sticky surface) can really make my day.
So I am thrilled to report that Chantecaille’s Brilliant Lip Gloss fits that bill perfectly. Aaaaand, here’s the kicker. . . it happens to be Angelina Jolie’s favorite lip gloss as well. (I don’t know about you, but I’ve given more than passing thought to wondering what lip gloss Angelina uses, because, well, her lips always look amazing. . . and not just because of her undeniably fabulous genetics). Apparently, she started wearing the gloss when filming her movie Salt a few years back and got hooked. Just last year she was caught on camera during the Golden Globes swiping on Chantecaille Brilliant Gloss in Love. What better endorsement is there? Angelina can’t bear to wait until after an awards show to reapply your gloss? What more do you need to know*
Anyway, Angie’s favorite Chantecaille glosses are Charmed and Love (and don’t those names just seal the deal? I’m a sucker for product names. I’ve even been known to pick one paint color over another in my house because I like the sound of one name over another. Anyway, Angie is clearly both charmed and in love, so who am I to say her lip gloss isn’t helping the cause?). I’ve tried both, and I see why she loves them. I am also partial to the coral color called Folly. You can get all of them here.
By the way, what’s your favorite lip gloss? Please share!
*Shortly after posting this, I discovered that Angelina will be on a lot of people’s mind’s today after writing this brave and inspiringly honest Op-Ed piece about a medical decision she recently made. So, perhaps Angelina’s lip gloss will not seem so important today. Understandably so.
