The Smell of Chic

Do you have a signature scent?  If so, what’s your secret?  I want to have one.  So badly.  I wish there were a smell that my friends, husband, kids, etc. could associate with me.  I wish there were one perfume that fit me so perfectly that I wore it all the time.  That worked in all seasons.  But I just don’t. I have a few I wear frequently.  That feel right in different moods and at different times of year.  So, as of yet, no signature scent.

But. . . recently I signed up for Birchbox.  (Have you heard of it?  It is a subscription service that sends you a bunch of curated samples each month, giving you the chance to try a bunch of new products.  I don’t always love every single product.  But that’s not the point  There’s often one that knocks my socks off and makes me want to run out and buy the full-sized product.  Mission accomplished, Birchbox!)

This month, my Birchbox included a sample of the new fragrance by Joie (the clothing company that pulls off an effortless mix of French je ne sais quoi and California cool).  The scent, called Folle de Joie is reeeeeally good.  It’s the kind of scent that, after you put it on, makes you keep smelling your wrist to get another whiff.  Joie describes it as embodying “California’s warm sea scented beaches and romanticized by Parisian charm.”  I don’t know about you but warm beaches and Parisian charm is exactly what I’m looking for in many things, and I certainly wouldn’t mind smelling as such.

Folle de Joie smells effortless and sunny, but oh so chic.  It could definitely become my signature scent.  Try it.  I think you’ll love it!!

Have a beautiful weekend!!

  • I am the opposite! I have one fragrance that I’ve been using for years: Chance by Chanel.. I only added one more recently by Bottega Veneta.

I love Birchbox – interestingly I received another scent by Isaac Mizrahi. I was about to discard it, but then I read your blog and have been thinking maybe it is indeed time to expand my choices.. 🙂

Hi Azrakun- I used to wear Chance too!! And I have been so tempted to buy the Bottega Veneta fragrance after smelling a sample (I just hadn’t been in a shop where it was sold). It seems like we may have similar tastes. I love that you may try out a new one as well. It can’t hurt, right?

      Have a lovely weekend!
