Heading Toward the Sun

It’s another foggy, chilly summer day in San Francisco.  This is my first summer here, but word on the street says it’s always like this in the summer.  (Apparently misattributed to Mark Twain, my favorite quote on this subject is “The coldest winter I ever spent was summer in San Francisco.”  Whoever said it was onto something; not because it’s snowing or truly frigid, but because if you’re expecting sunny 80 degree California days, summer in San Francisco is going to come as a shock.)  Come Fall, it’ll be gorgeous and sunny, but right now it’s sort of, well. . . freezing, in my humble opinion.

So, it’s time to head toward the sun.  My family and I are headed East to see family, enjoy the warmth, and relish the days before school starts.  I am sooo excited!

However, I still have packing to do.  I’m  not sure why I do this exactly, but I am a notorious late-packer.  Luckily, I’ve already shipped a bunch of stuff ahead (so we don’t have to lug too much on the plane along with two little ones), but I have saved packing the things that we needed to keep with us until the last minute.  So I’m sitting here worrying (and talking to you), when really I should be packing.

Do you have fun plans for what remains of summer?  I don’t know about for you, but for me, this summer (and this year in general) have absolutely flown.  So, I’ll try to slow down the clock and soak up some beautiful summer days.
