Thanks to the resurgence of “grunge” as a look, plaid is everywhere these days. Thanks to Dries van Noten, plaid on plaid is a look that now makes sense. And thanks to the versatility of plaid, it can be dressed up or down, with a pencil skirt or tattered jeans (that’s a lot of thanks, eh?).
For all these reasons, it seems close to imperative to invest in a plaid shirt this Fall. There is so much that can be done with it, and something about plaid just feels so comfortable and loungy (a word I just invented for the occasion).
These street style snaps have me all the more convinced of the essential qualities of plaid right now. I’m not afraid of buying a men’s plaid shirt, either (which only enhances the options). I’ve been wearing mine with jeans, but I’m feeling inspired to pair them with skirts (like this one) as well. Do you prefer the high or low styling of plaid?
