Humans of New York

Humans of New York

Do I have a treat for you.  I just stumbled across some Internet gold, and I had to share it with you.  After all, it’s completely turned around my sleep-deprived, puppy-stressed day (my super-cute puppy has been turning our lives upside down for the past 24 hours.  Luckily, I know this phase passes– I barely remember all the shenanigans our eight-year old dog caused when she was a puppy.).

Anyway, while looking for something online in a sleep-deprived haze, I saw this video, which nearly made me cry, thanks to its awesomeness.  Until I saw it, I’d never heard of the website Humans of New York.  Checking it out brought me down a wormhole of fabulousity.  Its author, Brandon Stanton, takes photographs of people in New York City and includes quotes and portions of the interviews he does with them next to their photos.  He has a beautiful touch, and his subjects end up sharing very personal information with him.  The result is profound and beautiful.    (By the way, the caption of the above photo, of a woman gloriously decked out in a multitude of candy colors reads: “Are you an artist?” “[No, a] divorce lawyer.”  Love!!)

Thank you for turning my day around, Brandon!  You can buy his book, also titled Humans of New York, here.

I’m so thrilled you shared this! OMG, it’s inspired me to do something similar for Lava Mae once we’re up and running. We can share stories, shatter stereotypes, etc. Thank you!!!

      Doniece-
I’m so glad you enjoyed it as much as I did, and I’m thrilled to hear it inspired you! I’m amazed at how touchingly executed his site is.
