The other day I found myself in a bit of a conundrum. I was about to meet a new friend’s mother for the first time (for lunch), and I had no idea what to wear. It felt a bit like a first date. I wanted to impress, but not seem over the top. Plus, I had roughly no time to get ready, so there wasn’t time to think too much about it. I raced to my closet with wet hair and just about two minutes to pick the outfit with which I would make my first impression.
This outfit is what I came up with. It was casual but pulled together. It didn’t surprise me (given the lack of time to plan) that I went back to my old stand-by: black and white. I was layered (to combat the unusual chill that has set into San Francisco lately) and warm (except for the fact that I had to keep my coat on the whole time to fight the chill caused by sitting near the door of my favorite salad place– which I’m going to share with you soon, as I compile my San Francisco favorites). And I’ve actually pulled the same outfit out again since, proving that it had the necessary ingredients of a go-to get-up.
