This past weekend, I made a quick trip to New York City to meet up with a friend and take in a bit of New York at Christmastime. There’s nothing like it. The lights and window displays are breathtaking (and the snow that fell right on cue didn’t hurt either). Christmas in New York takes everything up a notch, and walking down the street in the snow with the twinkling lights and all the festivity in the air could make even a jaded adult feel the magic of it all (and if, like me, you love all things about Christmas, then all the better).
This was just one of the windows at Tiffany’s. Despite the freezing temperatures, it was hard not to stop and stare.
Then there was this stunning scene in Bergdorf Goodman, with its all white displays and chic charm.
Upstairs, there was this gorgeous display of Aquazzura shoes, nearly all of which quickly landed on my wish list. I don’t know about you, but I think some tangerine suede shoes seem like just the thing to warm my toes this Spring.
Then there was this gorgeous display of Edie Parker clutches, which seemed to be beckoning to all who walked by, with their sparkle and wit. I love them all, but have a particular soft spot for the daisies and toucans (and check out these flamingoes. Love.). For what says whimsy more than an acrylic clutch covered with an homage to wildlife?
But, really, the best part of it was taking in all this Christmas wonder with a dear friend. We walked, we ate, we talked nearly non-stop for two and a half days. I couldn’t ask for a better way to spend a few days in December.
