Out of the Blue

Pants of all shapes and sizes are prevalent this Spring (including my favorite, the culotte).  Loose, flowy pants are also making a comeback, and I couldn’t wait to get in on their resurgence.  This is one of my all-time favorite shapes, after all.  It reminds me, yes, of Katherine Hepburn and her signature silhouette; but even moreso it reminds me of Finola Hughes’ character on General Hospital during my youth.

I didn’t watch General Hospital, but my after school babysitter did, and I learned some early lessons in style during those afternoons at her house.  Finola’s character, Anna Devane, looked like all kinds of professional success in her wide-legged pant suits, and I couldn’t wait to get in on it.  In my faded memory, I thought that Anna was a police detective, but Wikipedia indicates that, instead she was a “super-spy.”

I may not be a super-spy, but apparently this season I can dress like one.  I think I’m going to take that opportunity as often as I can.
