As much as I love dessert, I’m not a huge ice cream person. That’s why what happened this past weekend was so surprising. . .
My husband and I went out to dinner with friends at an awesome San Francisco restaurant called Mason Pacific. (It is sooo good, and I highly recommend it! Apparently, Kim and Kanye are big fans as well, in case you don’t want to take my word for it.) We ordered a bunch of desserts for the table, including 3 types of ice cream (I, of course, ordered a non-ice cream dessert option).
Well, let’s just say that the ice cream was so good, I had to hunt down its source. The next day. With my whole family.
The waiter at Mason Pacific had mentioned that the ice creams were all by Humphry Slocombe, which sounded like a big deal, though I’d never heard of it. After tasting their Secret Breakfast ice cream, however, I knew I needed to eat it again. Soon.
So the next morning, I discovered where Humprhy Slocombe was located (in the Mission, a famously foodie section of famously foodie San Francisco), packed my family in the car, and went to get more of their ice cream.
My kids (who are huge ice cream fans) were won over instantly. The Tahitian Vanilla and Malted Milk Chocolate fit each of their flavor profiles, and they began devouring their ice cream as soon as we got back in the car. I waited until dessert for my helping of Secret Breakfast ice cream (which contains Bourbon and Corn Flakes). And then I had another.
It’s like nothing I’ve tasted before, and I can see why it’s Humphry Slocombe’s most popular ice cream. It’s divine. And now it’s sitting in my freezer calling my name.
Humphry Slocombe is at 2790 A Harrison Street in San Francisco, and will be opening a second location in The Ferry Building later this month!!
