And We’re Off!

I’m not sure where the past few weeks have gone since school got out, but they have passed in a blink of an eye, and now we’re off on vacation!  We’re heading east tomorrow on a whirlwind tour of the East Coast.  Our first stop will be visiting my mom in New Hampshire, where she has all kinds of hijinks planned.  Then onto Boston, and then Long Island.

I am beyond excited (and also buzzing with the fear of forgetting something while away on such a long trip).  My suitcases are still open, just in case I remember yet another thing we cannot live without.

As much as I adore living in San Francisco, this is the time of year that I just can’t wrap my head around.  Having grown up on the East Coast, I am used to summers being warm and delightful (even if much of the rest of the year isn’t), but in San Francisco they are anything but.  Even if a summer day starts out being warm in San Francisco, chances are it’ll be brisk and windy by the end.

So, I am thrilled to be headed into some warmth.  I’m excited to wear shorts, visit with friends and family, see fireflies, eat ice cream, and take my kids back to the places where so many wonderful memories were made.  I’m looking forward to making lots more happy memories.

Here’s to a glorious summer!!  What are your plans?

  • Happy summer vacation! New England sounds like the perfect place to be right about now. I’m going to Cannon Beach, OR in July for a girls trip and it can’t come soon enough. Then it’s on to NYC and Savannah later in the summer. I can’t wait to hear about all of your adventures!
