Make a Statement with a Cape

There’s a reason superheroes wear capes.  There’s just something magical about them.  But what is the source of the mojo that capes have, enabling them to pull together an outfit (even one consisting of torn jeans— which I cannot get enough of these days, a simple blouse, and suede booties)?  It’s mysterious, and yet it is undeniable.  Capes just make an outfit.  There, I said it.

I’d had my eye on this one since it walked down the runway, and I knew it was so special it would pull together a thousand outfits this fall and winter.  It’s already proving me right.  I’m pretty sure if you wore nothing under your cape, you’d still look pretty smashing.  But that’s just a guess.

Love it – I can picture Blake Lively pre-natal in this! Question for you – maybe another post for another day, but what are you wearing for toe nail color these days? Chinchilly is getting dreary with winter!

    • Thank you, Krissy! Ahh, Blake Lively. I’ll take a comparison to her (pre- or post-natal) any day. 😉

I am full-on into Christmas on my toes already (which I know not everyone is ready for). I currently have an Essie red with glitter in it. The holidays are the one time of year that I can get behind glitter.

  • I agree – capes do make the outfit. I’ve always loved cloaks and capes…such elegant drama, and a nice way to layer! I have a velvet cloak, but it’s too heavy to wear in LA given the warm temperatures. Also, I have to be prepared to draw heavy attention. In any case, your cape is fantastic. The modern cut is really striking. I’d say you look very superheroically stylish indeed! 🙂

    • Frederik-
Wow, thank you! Your cape sounds amazing! Hasn’t it been cooler down there recently? Maybe it’s time to pull the cape out!

Cooler, yes, but not cool enough. It’s still sandal weather as far as I’m concerned. 🙂 (I have to say, though, the image of me wearing a cloak while scootering to work does have some appeal…lol. Dracula on wheels!)

I wish I could share a picture of the cloak with you. Unfortunately, I don’t have any of the one I have, and the store it came from has been defunct for many years. (It was called Siren, and it was Toronto’s premier Goth store. Actually, it was a legend around the world until it shut down. But I digress.)

Here’s something you might like, although it may be more Renn Faire than high fashion: http://www.customcloaks.com/
