The End

sunset in Santa Barbara

And just like that, our summer is over.  We are back from our travels, and my daughter starts school later this week.

It’s hard to believe another summer has ended.  The season I sometimes feel like I live all year for has come and gone.

This summer was a good one.  It was full of visits with friends and family, plenty of ice cream and long, gorgeous, hot days.  We baked cakes and made lobster rolls, ate tons of salads, and had lots of barbecues.  We swam and had races in the back yard.  My son started surfing.  My daughter grew vegetables and then cooked with them.  I made a dent in my reading list (I’m reading this right now and really loving it) and have a vague inkling of a tan (that I notice anyway.  My mother, on the other hand, did not.  Such is the scourge of having ghostly pale skin that really only vacilates between two colors- white and red).

I loved this summer.  I am sad to see it go.  But I’m glad we lived every day of it to the fullest.

And now I’m ready to get back into our routine.

And, of course, Fall fashion.
