There’s something about New York that makes you feel like throwing caution to the wind and making bold fashion statements. Maybe it’s all the other people making bold fashion statements. Maybe it’s just that there are so many people, period. It’s so much harder to stand out when the crowds are so large.
So, New York says, “Why not stand out? Why not, for instance, wear baby blue and red velvet together? They happen to be lovely together, as Gwyneth Paltrow, circa 1996, can attest. They also happen to go quite nicely with lemon yellow cabs, it turns out.”
The energy of New York is so invigorating and exciting (even when it’s not giving you direct advice). It’s super fun and wildly intoxicating. In short bursts, anyway. Then I need to go home and sleep it off. Get back to the calmer, less chaotic, less insanely traffic-filled land of San Francisco and appreciate what I have.
But then I’ll always go back for more. More energy. More excitement. More fashion risks.
