There are few things I love more than books. And these two are among my favorites of the year. They are beautiful and inspiring in their own ways.
Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Lesser (author of Eat, Pray, Love) is like a long talk with a creativity mentor. It has also been described as a “celebration of a creative life.” If there’s any part of you that aspires to do anything creative, then this book is for you. Lesser describes her own challenges, triumphs, and epiphanies on her creative journey, as well as those of other artists, and she demystifies the creative process for others. It made me think differently about creativity and also inspired me toward new creative endeavors (which I’ll tell you about soon). I love this book and highly recommend it.
Lee, the new book by Lee Radziwill (sister of Jaqueline Kennedy) is beautiful in its own right, full of gorgeous pictures and anecdotes from Lee’s life. Though this blog is named after Jackie, I have long been inspired by Lee’s style as well. I have paged through her previous book, Happy Times, countless times. And now, fifteen years later, we have a new book full of Lee’s personal lens on culture and history as she lived it. Her beauty and style continue to inspire, and her personal insights and perspective are fascinating.
These are two beautiful books to give and get this season.
