I don’t know about you, but I am ready for some good, old fashioned relaxation. And there’s no time like a holiday weekend to get prepared to unwind. I’ve gathered all my favorite ways to destress into one easy relaxation kit, all in one place. They are my tried and true methods, and I am looking forward to spending time on them all this weekend.
First of all, lighting this candle takes me right to ease. Its scent is clean, fresh, and soothing. Sign me up, and bring some matches!
Next is a new book by my all-time favorite beach read author, Emily Giffin. I look forward to her books and pre-order them before they come out so I can start reading them as soon as possible. She comes out with a new one every two years or so (not that I’m counting), and her new book, First Comes Love, just hit shelves this week! You can bet I’ll be snuggled up somewhere cozy with this book this weekend.
I have really gotten back into yoga lately, and in addition to taking classes, I am loving the Yogaglo app, which allows you to pick from a ton of classes to stream right to your phone (or other device). You can choose how you want to feel at the end of your session (calm, energized, etc.), choose the length of your session, and pick from a bunch of great teachers. Then pow! The class begins right on your phone. I am loving it and love knowing I can do a yoga class at the drop of a hat (or a free half hour). Now that’s the kind of app I wish I’d thought of!
I’ve recently started taking baths again as a way to unwind at the end of a long day, and I’m loving Herbivore Botanical’s delicious line of products. The Coconut Milk Bath Soak smells divine and makes your skin sooo soft, and their Calm Soaking Salts are similarly heavenly-smelling and relaxing.
These pink headphones are not only pretty to look, at but wireless, to allow you to easily listen to your favorite podcast or audiobook (or whatevah) in complete ease. I’ve also been listening to meditations on my wireless headphones of late. Another super-relaxing exercise.
Jon Kabat-Zinn’s book Mindfulness For Beginners is a great entrée to mindfulness and meditation (or a great reminder of what you’ve learned, if you’re not new to the practice). I’ve picked this book up again recently and love how soothing it is to read a few pages at the end of a long day. It’s my favorite way to end a day.
This kit should get you good and relaxed! There are so many options, and a long and delightful summer weekend ahead to partake of them all.
I hope you have a lovely and relaxing holiday weekend! And before you go, tell me– what are your favorite ways to relax?
